Style: Residential, remodel, Modern style
Size: 1,500 sq. ft. remodel area
Location: Napa

Scope of project: Landscape front yard and remove old concrete and sidewalks. Design and install new concrete sidewalks, steps, front patio, and entry-way. Demolish and remodel the living room, dining room, kitchen, pantry, family room, and two bathrooms. Replace flooring. Replace windows throughout the whole home.

Distinguishing structural features: Living room columns replaced a load-bearing wall. Engineered poly cast columns were custom designed and painted. Recessed-lighting in kitchen requiring rewiring of kitchen (brought up to code). The living room originally had a sunken floor, which needed to be raised.

Special appointments: Kitchen floor is ¾ random plank, red oak, highlighted with a vitchy strip border. Cabinets are red oak, vertical grain, and custom made and finished with clear lacquer. Full-slab, Italian granite counter tops coordinated with Italian tile. Wall tiles are accented with granite diamond shape inlaid designed by Forbes. All commercial, stainless appliances installed. The entry way has a custom inlay accent in the hardwood floor.

Project challenges: Fitting the granite counter tops and cabinets to the south corner. Cabinets had to be custom fitted and mitered to migrate with the existing wall angles. Being a tract home, the original construction was sub-par, overall.
