Style: Country style, commercial tenant renovation, referral
Size: 2,000 sq. ft
Location: Napa, upscale professional/medical park

Scope of project: Total demolition of existing office space. Renovation of a single-story, lower-level, medical office in a professional building. Included nine rooms plus one rest room and waiting area. Also, needed systems installed for delivery of medication and a network for accessing medical databases. Client wanted an inviting, eccentric, artistic, work environment.

Distinguishing structural features: Offices were contained in a larger building. Major structural elements were already in place.

Special appointments: All aesthetic elements are profusely detailed and customized. Several varieties of wood are integrated into the details. Brought in about 4,000 square feet of special wood for wall coverings. All custom wood cabinetry, about 120 linear feet with about 70 linear feet of petrified marble slabs for counter space. Main trim custom milled and used with knotty pine tongue-&-groove for accents.

Specially designed metal accents were hand hewn by a fabricator. Some bronze was peened to give it a distressed look. Custom granite fabricated for the restroom floor.

Project challenges: Unusual amount of hand labor required of specialist and artisans causing many components to be created or milled on site. Another challenge was the installation of the false ceiling, creating limited room for lighting.
